FinTech | PostgreSQL | Database Operations

We are looking for a Database Engineer to support and maintain critical database environments within a large international financial technology business.

The role is primarily focused on PostgreSQL, with additional exposure to ClickHouse and MongoDB, and is well suited to someone with solid hands-on database administration experience who wants to deepen their expertise in reliability, performance, monitoring and production support.

You will work closely with senior database specialists, developers, SRE and infrastructure teams to ensure the stability, security and performance of business-critical data platforms.

The Role
You will be responsible for day-to-day support of production database environments, with a strong focus on monitoring, troubleshooting and operational reliability.

Your responsibilities will include:

Monitoring PostgreSQL clusters for availability, replication health and performance
Supporting production database incidents and participating in an on-call rotation
Troubleshooting PostgreSQL, ClickHouse and MongoDB environments
Investigating database errors, failed jobs and performance issues
Supporting development and application teams with database-related requests
Performing routine maintenance, including backups, restores, patching and upgrades
Supporting database security through user, role and privilege administration
Monitoring database capacity, utilisation and performance trends
Helping maintain high availability and disaster recovery readiness
Investigating query and indexing issues
Escalating complex database problems to senior engineers when required
Supporting improvements to monitoring, reliability and database operations
Providing clear incident updates, technical findings and resolution summaries
What We’re Looking For
You should have approximately 2–4 years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience together with strong Linux knowledge.

Key experience includes:

PostgreSQL administration
PostgreSQL replication
Backup and restore procedures
Indexing and query troubleshooting
Basic performance tuning
High availability and disaster recovery concepts
Capacity and resource monitoring
Linux administration
Production database support
Incident investigation and troubleshooting
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline would be relevant.
