About the business
An international technology provider helps businesses deliver websites, applications, streaming and gaming services quickly and securely. Its global infrastructure combines cloud computing, content delivery, network security and GPU capacity for AI workloads.
The opportunity
Lead four engineering teams responsible for content delivery, edge and proxy services, analytics and logging, and DNS and traffic routing.
This role combines people leadership, delivery management and technical decision-making. Daily coding is not required, but you should be comfortable assessing architecture, challenging proposed solutions and taking responsibility for production reliability.
Your responsibilities
Coach engineers and technical leads, support career development and recruit as the teams grow.
Agree priorities with product and operational stakeholders, balancing new capabilities with reliability and maintenance.
Coordinate fortnightly delivery cycles, with clear commitments and transparent progress reporting.
Oversee incident response, on-call arrangements and follow-up improvements.
Strengthen documentation, engineering standards and service ownership, reducing reliance on individual specialists.
Guide decisions around caching, configuration distribution, traffic failover and analytics performance.
Encourage practical adoption of AI tools across engineering workflows.
What you bring
Hands-on understanding of internet infrastructure, such as CDNs, DNS, reverse proxies or large distributed platforms.
At least four years of engineering management experience, including managing technical leads.
The technical depth to assess HTTP caching, nginx, TLS/SNI and anycast routing.
Experience leading incident response and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
Confidence managing several teams, setting boundaries and explaining prioritisation decisions.
Experience coordinating distributed teams across European and Asian time zones.
Useful additional experience: Go, Rust, C or Python; ClickHouse; Prometheus and Grafana; distributed tracing; Kubernetes and bare-metal infrastructure; or product ownership for platform services.
Working environment and benefits
You will work with an established production platform where improving legacy services, clarifying ownership and strengthening backlogs are part of the remit. The organisation offers close collaboration with product decision-makers and visible influence over technical direction.
Benefits include competitive compensation, flexible hours, up to 45 days of working abroad annually, language courses and team activities. Depending on location, private medical cover for employees and their families, additional paid leave and office perks are also available.
