We are looking for experienced Java Software Engineers and Senior Java Software Engineers to join a global financial technology environment building large-scale payment infrastructure used by businesses around the world.

The organisation develops payment, data and financial technology products that support complex, high-volume transactions across online and in-store channels. Engineering teams work on systems where performance, reliability, scalability and seamless integration are critical.

The Role
As a Java Software Engineer within the payments domain, you will work across the full software development lifecycle — from architecture and design through development, testing, deployment and production support.

You will contribute to a highly available payment processing platform that connects merchants, partners, payment methods, card schemes and external services at global scale.

Your work may involve:

Building and maintaining high-performance distributed systems
Developing integrations with payment methods, card networks and external APIs
Improving the scalability, stability and reliability of payment infrastructure
Designing and delivering APIs that support merchant and partner integrations
Working with large-scale PostgreSQL environments
Developing backend services that process high transaction volumes
Improving existing frameworks and platform performance
Building automation capabilities that support operational scale
Supporting self-service functionality for merchants through APIs and internal tools
Taking ownership of features from initial design through production release
Identifying technical improvements across architecture, performance and maintainability
Collaborating with engineers across teams and international locations
Reviewing code, sharing feedback and contributing to engineering standards
What We’re Looking For
You should have solid commercial software engineering experience and be comfortable working in complex, production-critical environments.

Key experience includes:

Strong Java development skills
Experience with web services and REST APIs
Good knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL
Experience building or operating high-throughput, highly reliable services
Understanding of distributed systems and scalable backend architecture
Strong ownership mindset across the full software lifecycle
Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, including speed, scalability and technical debt
Good communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly
Collaborative approach to engineering and problem solving
Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:
